NZ Wine

It's been more than a year since Halliday expanded into New Zealand, which means our Kiwi producers are now eligible for a star rating.

Star ratings are awarded annually to wineries who have submitted to Wine Companion in the past year. Five stars are given to outstanding producers capable of producing wines of a very high quality, and who have at least two wines rated 95 points or above. To celebrate, Jane Faulkner gives an overview of the country's regions and wine styles, and calls out her favourite producers. And Katie Spain looks at how Aotearoa's connection to Māori culture and the land is woven into the fabric of winemaking.
