Programme Highlights:

·        The concert is part of HKSO’s 2025 Italy Tour, themed From Madama Butterfly to The Butterfly Lovers, featuring the celebrated violin soloist and Artistic Director, Ms Yue Yao, with performances in Rome, Florence, and Gubbio from 11 to 14 November 2025.

·        The programme draws a poetic connection between the fate of Cio-Cio San in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and the romantic transformation into butterflies of the Chinese legendary lovers Liang Shanbo & Zhu Yingtai in the classic The Butterfly Lovers, creating a beautiful resonance of East and West through the shared symbol of the butterfly. By intertwining the melodies of Italian classical music with the expressive techniques of Chinese folk songs and Yue opera, the concert celebrates the fusion of Eastern and Western musical traditions, where two worlds meet in resonance and beauty.

·        The repertoire will also feature beloved Hong Kong film and television music, as well as timeless Italian works including Stolen Heart, Unforgettable Samba, Beneath the Lion Rock, and Ennio Morricone’s Cinema Paradiso theme, among others.

·        The concert serves as a prelude to Hong Kong’s signature business promotion campaign in Italy “Think Business, Think Hong Kong”, scheduled for 27 November 2025, during which Hong Kong will bring a strong and senior delegation to Italy to explore business collaborations.
