In a world that is increasingly seeking sustainable values and a long-term vision, family businesses stand out today more than ever as models for the future. They combine craftsmanship, local roots, lasting responsibility and the freedom to innovate with meaning.

Created in 2020, the PFV – Primum Familiae Vini Award is awarded every two years to a family business – from any sector and country – that embodies generational transmission, the pursuit of excellence, responsible innovation and commitment to a sustainable future.

The prize is accompanied by a grant of €100,000 to support the winner's development project.

After Maison Bernard (Belgium), the oldest violin making workshop in Europe founded in 1868; Brun de Vian-Tiran (France), specialist in noble fibres since 1808; and Tsutsumi Urushi Asakichi (Japan), master of traditional lacquer since 1909, the PFV Prize continues its mission: to highlight family businesses that maintain excellence across generations while building the future.

Each winner embodies a strong vision of the company: human, rigorous, independent and deeply rooted in its own time.

Primum Familiae Vini (PFV) is a private association founded in 1992, which brings together twelve of the most iconic families in the world of wine.

Each has led their own family estate for several generations, sharing the same philosophy: combining tradition and innovation, transmission and excellence, freedom and responsibility.

With this award, they want to support, inspire and enhance other family businesses around the world – in whatever sector they operate.
