0.ENOPRESS WINE SPECIAL

0.PUNGIROSA RIVERA

CASTEL DEL MONTE BOMBINO NERO DOCG PUNGIROSA 2022

Bottiglie prodotte: 300.000; prezzo a scaffale € 9.40.

0.Fabri Rivera

FABRI MURGIA NERO DI TROIA IGT 2022

Bottiglie prodotte: 4.200 - Prezzo a scaffale € 13,90.

Bottiglie prodotte: 90.000 - Prezzo a scaffale € 6,10.

ENGLISH VERSION

Nowadays, in all the provinces of Puglia, extremely varied rosé wines are produced, with a winning quality/price ratio, which are striking for their extraordinary range of colors ranging from cherry rosé to coral, passing through Provençal shades. These wines are distinguished by their fragrance and refinement, with aromas that evoke wild strawberries, pomegranate, raspberry, cherry, rose, oleander, peony, Mediterranean scrub and rhubarb. Moreover, in Puglia, in 1943, the first rosé bottled in Italy (Leone De Castris' Four Roses) was born, destined for the American troops who settled in Salento after the landing.

THE ROSE WINES OF CASTEL DEL MONTE

Among the production areas in pink, the Murge represent a very interesting area where wines are produced that are a little leaner than in other areas of Puglia, but of extraordinary elegance using Bombino Nero. And precisely in the Murge, the plateau of Puglia , between the Tavoliere delle Puglie, Basilicata and the Terra di Bari, in the area around Castel del Monte Bombino Nero is the protagonist of the only DOCG dedicated exclusively to pink wine, the DOCG Castel del Monte Bombino Nero .

Among the wineries of the Alta Murgia, the Rivera winery of the Di Corato family, in Andria, is always a safe port to land for as regards the rosé wines of the Castel del Monte area.

Three pink labels produced that arrived in the editorial office and that we had the opportunity to taste.

CASTEL DEL MONTE BOMBINO NERO DOCG PUNGIROSA 2022

Bottles produced: 300,000; shelf price € 9.40.

The autochthonous Bombino Nero gives a rosé with an onion skin pink color with purplish reflections. On the nose the floral tones of the white flowers of the Murgia and the dog rose prevail which revolve around the aromas of strawberry and raspberry which turn towards a persuasive mix of almond candy and mineral nuances. Lively and fragrant on the palate, it reveals a beautiful acidity and a discreet savory-mineral persistence on the finish that leaves the palate ready for the next glass.

FABRI MURGIA NERO DI TROIA IGT 2022

New label with Rivera dedication. The latest wine released on the market, a 100% Nero di Troia rosé, aged for 4 months in Tava ceramic stoneware barrels and Clayer amphorae. Bright pink color with coral reflections, complex and intense nose full of scents reminiscent of fresh red berry fruits. Red currants, cherries, sour cherries, pomegranate and red October peaches stand out with light spicy notes of pink pepper and nutmeg.

On the palate it is enveloping and intense, we find the same intensity of the fruits, accompanied by a good acidity and in the finish a subtle savory note that gives the structure a good stiffness. On the back of the nose aromas of flowers and aromatic herbs arrive.

THE ROSE WINES OF SALENTO

When one thinks of Salento , immediately after the uncontaminated sea and the long white beaches, the mind goes to the expanses of sapling vineyards that protect the ripening grapes from the impetuous sun. From the south of Taranto and Brindisi to the heel of Italy, this is the land of Negroamaro , an ancient vine known since the time of Greek colonization.

Its current name probably derives from the combination of the Latin term “ niger ” and the Greek term “ mavros ” which both mean black, therefore Negroamaro as black-black due to the dark color of the grapes.

In the past it was mainly used to cut wines (that is, to mix one or more grape varieties) thanks above all to its high concentration of sugars , which make it ideal for carrying out this operation with musts from northern Italy and France.

In the last twenty years, however, there has been a clear trend reversal: the Salento wine producers have begun to use the grapes of this vine to produce single-variety wines, great reds, young or for aging and also for a particular version in pink with a strong character, thus obtaining the Negroamaro as we all know it today.

And the pink version of Negroamaro in these areas boasts a continuity of production and consumption that has never been affected by market fashions. Tradition wants it to have a beautiful coral pink, even if some producers, following the trend of the international market dominated by delicate Provençal pinks, are veering towards softer shades.

In fact, there are two ways of interpreting Salento in pink. The first, the one that refers to tradition, offers rosés with a fairly marked color and consistent organoleptic fullness, with spicy notes and the typical earthiness of negroamaro. The second, on the other hand, is the way of those who look at a more experimental style, and therefore less intense in the colours, preserving the spicy character of the main vine, and yet choosing to blend it with a distinct citrus trace.

The two Salento pink wines of the Romaldo Greco company that have arrived in the editorial office, well represent the characteristics of the traditional line of Salento pink wines.
