The 62nd edition of the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges Wine Auction will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the Château du Clos de Vougeot and will be streamed live on www.interencheres.com.
The auction is open to all, both for the charity pièce, sold by the bottle at a set price by subscription, and for the lots going under the hammer on behalf of the hospital.

AN AUTHENTIC AND GENEROUS 2022 VINTAGE

Sun-drenched and abundant, the 2022 harvest means we are able to offer a fine volume for sale with 160 pieces to be auctioned across 19 different cuvées, representing the diversity and authenticity of each cru. This generous year has given us wonderful grapes, beautifully ripened and aromatic. Perfectly balanced with nice freshness, the wines can be enjoyed young, but also have great cellaring potential - characteristic of a fine vintage. This is the Burgundian classicism in all its majesty.

TWO NEW CUVÉES
A new cuvée,  “Homage to Hugues Perdrizet”
The vintage is of such quality we have been able to create a new cuvée: the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Saint-Georges “Vieilles Vignes”, Cuvée Hugues Perdrizet, paying tribute to the first donor to the Hospices de Nuits estate.
Made from a careful selection of the oldest vine stocks on the estate, this cuvée is a delight to drink from a very young age and promises to go down in the annals for the patient wine-lover. Rich, powerful and complex aromas, a marvellous and incredible long finish, this cuvée is a mini revolution in the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges wine auction.

Second edition of the charity piece made from a unique blend of the estate's Premiers Crus 
On the back of its success in 2021, the Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru charity pièce, christened the “Cuvée des Bienfaiteurs” (the benefactors’ cuvée), made from a subtle blend of the estate’s nine premiers crus, has been repeated this year for a second vintage.
This unique cuvée reveals both the full character of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation and the specificity of each of the crus that it comprises, while bringing out the vintage’s own personality.
In 2022, this wine displayed all its finesse and elegance, with rich and deep aromas and a dense texture, prolonged by a long finish.
So the second edition of this cuvée looks to be just as promising as the first vintage. A unique cuvée that should certainly be put in the cellar to build up a fine vertical of vintages to come.

A SPECTACULAR DYNAMIC OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS
For the fourth year running, the Wine Auction has been entrusted to a duo that has successfully injected new momentum into the traditional wine auction: auctioneer Hugues Cortot and wine expert Aymeric de Clouet. No more sale by “candle”, live streaming on the internet, the auction of each pièce as a lot, the creation of a brand new and unique cuvée for the charity pièce and, this year, the creation of the Hugues Perdrizet cuvée; the Wine Auction offers new ideas and innovations every year.
This wonderful dynamic has been crowned with success in recent years, and growth has been stunning.
After the great progress already seen in 2021, sales from the 2022 auction hit a record sum of €2,486,000 - that’s an increase of almost 30% on the previous year despite five fewer pièces going under the hammer. Between 2020 and 2022, sales have risen by 54%, going from €1,614,500 to €2,486,000.
The average sale price for a pièce of red wine has now reached €22,482 compared to €16,688 in 2021 and €13,036 in 2020. That’s a spectacular increase of 72%.
And another strong sign of the enthusiasm generated by the Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges wines is that the number of buyers has grown and diversified constantly since 2020.

ABOUT THE DOMAINE DES HOSPICES DE NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES
The Domaine des Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges is a hospital and winegrowing estate founded in 1270, some two centuries before its illustrious neighbor, the Hospices de Beaune, which was established in 1443.
