In the 19th century, Western thinkers birthed modern environmental literature, trafficking in the fixed concepts of “land” and “territory,” centering “natural resources” meant for human consumption.

More recently, environmental thinking has come to incorporate more integrated views of humanity’s place in our world. Perhaps we have a better chance of coexisting with nature if we view it less in rigid terms and more as a web of cycles—geologic, evolutionary, and biological.

As part of its members-only live event series, Nautilus is hosting a mind-expanding discussion between philosopher Wahida Khandker and Nautilus Executive Editor Bob Grant. They’ll imagine helpful alternatives to the environmentalist thinking of the past, touching on AI, gaming, and art. Join us this Thursday, October 8 at 1 p.m. ET.

This is a Nautilus member-exclusive event, and seats will go fast. Join Nautilus to reserve your spot.*
