France's sparkling wines aren't just about Champagne. There are many other high-quality products inspired by the production methods and styles of the most noble labels from the northeastern region, but at much more affordable prices. Among these are the designer bottles.
Brut Dargent is the sparkling brand from Jura, part of the Les Grand Chais de France Group . This terroir is interpreted exclusively through sparkling wines produced using the traditional method, using quality grapes from the main French grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and (unusually for a sparkling wine) Merlot. The goal is to produce wines designed for both gourmet consumption and aperitifs, with a strong innovative component. This is precisely why the two products in the Free line were born, complementing the production of traditional sparkling wines.
Brut Dargent Free Chardonnayis an alcohol-free sparkling wine made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, fresh and distinctive despite its lack of alcohol. It has a pale gold color with golden highlights, and on the palate it is smooth and creamy, a burst of freshness and elegance, with notes of white flowers and citrus and a very pleasant perlage. Ideal as an aperitif or to accompany desserts, it is also perfect for mixology. The same pairing is also true for the Brut Dargent Free Pinot Noir , made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes, whose seductive notes it delicately expresses in the rosé version: on the nose and on the palate, hints of red fruits are found, in a lively and extremely drinkable ensemble.
Brut Dargent Free Chardonnay and Free Pinot Noir are produced using the most innovative technologies. After traditional vinification, a dealcoholization process is carried out through vacuum distillation using the "cone centrifugal column" method, an innovative and ultra-modern process that requires neither the addition of chemicals nor heating. It takes at least 30 hours to gently remove the alcohol from the wine. This extremely gentle dealcoholization method preserves the structure and aromatic quality of the wine without the addition of flavorings, ensuring an authentic and natural flavor.
But if Dry January isn't your thing, you can start the year off by uncorking a Brut Dargent Blanc de Blancs, an Extra Brut made from 100% Chardonnay. It features a bright straw yellow color with greenish highlights, a dense perlage, and aromas of ripe fruit and citrus that later give way to toasted, pastry, and chocolate notes. The palate is full and satisfying, the foam filling the mouth, and the flavors echo the aromas. Its favorite food pairings are fish dishes, including raw fish, Asian cuisine, vegetable-based dishes, rustic tarts, and moderately mature cheeses. The alcohol content is 11.5% and the price is around 10 euros, which makes it truly competitive with bottles of Champagne that are clearly more expressive but also much more expensive.
