CTRLZAK is excited to share its latest project: BUBO, a restaurant inspired by the poetic Japanese concept of Komorebi—literally sunlight filtering through trees.
The restaurant is located in Ekies ( https://ekies.gr/ ), a resort on the Halkidiki peninsula in Greece.
More than just a visual reference, Komorebi captures the deep bond between humans and nature. This connection is at the heart of BUBO’s nature-driven design. Set in a pine-rich landscape, the space interprets the hidden life of trees—from how light filters through needles to the subtle systems that sustain their growth. Custom-designed furniture, spatial dividers, and textiles echo these themes, while natural finishes and locally sourced marble ground the space in its regional context. The result is a sensory dining experience where architecture and nature are seamlessly intertwined.
