Rome. Vinitaly and the City , the pop soul of the International Wine and Spirits Show, returns from 4 to 6 April. Every year, wine lovers and enthusiasts from all over Italy gather in Verona for three days dedicated to good wine. The Vinitaly off-show, which extends into the suggestive triangle that includes Piazza dei Signori (with the Loggia di Fra Giocondo and the Loggia Antica), Cortile Mercato Vecchio and Cortile del Tribunale, symbolic places of the city and a UNESCO heritage site, already has over 70 events including tastings, masterclasses, conferences, meetings and guided tours.
A miniature Italy of food and wine
With an itinerary that symbolically connects Italy from the capital of wine, Verona, to the tip of the boot, Vinitaly and the City will see wine in all its facets as the protagonist. In Piazza dei Signori, the Consorzio Tutela Doc delle Venezie will preside over the Loggia di Fra' Giocondo, while the Mixology Area will be in the Loggia Antica will see brands such as Bartenders, Molinari, Marcati, Nespresso, Italian Wine Brands, San Pellegrino, 9 di Dante, Fiol, Martini and Campari present the new trends in mixology. The Banca Passadore Lounge , in the center of the square, acts as the center of gravity for the experience of a tasting immersed in art and history. The journey continues in the Cortile Mercato Vecchio with the proposals of the Calabria Region and the Sardinia Region , while in the Cortile del Tribunale it is possible to taste, in addition to the selection of labels from the Gambero Rosso 2025 Italian Wine Guide (many of which have been awarded the Tre Bicchieri), also the wines of the Campania Region and the Enoteca Esselunga . Here you can also find dishes signed by the Fiera del Riso such as the traditional Riso all'isolana and Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG, as well as those with Val di Non Apples and Prosecco Doc and Arancini di riso. The tour – not only food and wine but also cultural – is completed by the Affreschi Lounge, which will host the Department of Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity for the promotion of Agrigento Capital of Culture 2025 and the Sicilian archaeological parks. Finally, the Consorzio Tutela Lugana Doc stands out on the Torre dei Lamberti.
A marathon of events including Wine Talks and tastings
It starts on Friday 4th April with the ribbon cutting in the Loggia di Fra Giocondo (Piazza dei Signori, 6pm). In the glasses the official wine of the event, the Teàtrico Castello di Meleto Classico 1256 - Metodo classico toscano , a Classico that defies convention, the result of at least 4 years of aging on the lees, obtained exclusively from Sangiovese grapes grown over 400 m above sea level in the heart of Gaiole in Chianti.
On the program front, the masterclasses - by invitation - of the Campania Region (5/4, 3 pm, Council Chamber of the Provincial Palace) and the Calabria Region (5/4, 5.30 and 8 pm, while the Wine Talks by Sissi Baratella (Lounge Flover of Cortile Mercato Vecchio, in Italian and English) are spread over all three days, with verticals on Calabrian wines (4/4, 6.30 pm; 5/4, 3 pm); “Italian wine brands a tutto Veneto” (4/4, 7.30 pm); “Wine Talk Garda Doc: in the name of the vine. Wines synonymous with light, wind and water of Lake Garda” (4/4, 8.30 pm); “All you need is Gavi: the versatile and contemporary Piedmontese white” (5/4, 4.45 pm); “Conegliano Valdobbiadene, extra-ordinary young” (5/4, 18.15); “Prosecco Superiore Valdobbiadene Canevel: Masi, in the name of Setage” (5/4, 7.30 pm); “Marisa Cuomo: wines that tell the story of the sun, the wind and the rocks of the Amalfi Coast” (5/4, 8.45 pm); “Born in Sardinia” (6/4, 3 pm and 6.15 pm); “Barbanera - all the shades of Sangiovese” (6/4, 4.45 pm); “Valpolicella +100. 100 years after the foundation of the consortium, the Veronese denomination of only red wines is more modern than ever” (6/4, 7.30 pm).
Among the tastings, “ Hellas in wine ” also returns, the series of tastings scheduled at the Hellas Store which will be held every day of the event (4/4 from 6 pm; 5-6/4 from 4 pm).
On Saturday 5 April (3 pm, Loggia di Fra' Giocondo) the winners of the 2025 Diapason Award will be revealed in preview, with the awards from Tommaso Caporale's 2026 Bollizine Guide. Among the winners, the “most in tune” sparkling wines in Italy, sampled according to the “Caporale method”.
Art, history and contaminations
The literary meetings organized in collaboration with Feltrinelli Librerie will return to animate the stage of the Loggia di Fra' Giocondo, as will the events curated by Fisar, with a focus on “FISAR winetelling - Enoturisti per caso” (5/4, 7:30 pm), and by the Rivela association, which this year presents “Intagli di Luce, Canti di Vite: Il Coro Silenzioso di Fra Giovanni da Verona” (6/4, 3 pm). The spotlight will also be on the new season of BEVI – L'Arte del Vinificazione , the first and only TV series on art in the world of wine, broadcast on Sky Arte and streaming on Now (6/4, 7 pm, Loggia di Fra' Giocondo). Among the most anticipated evening events, the shows of the Sicily Region (foyer area of the Affreschi Lounge), the pizza evening of the Campania Region for Saturday evening (7 pm, Cortile del Tribunale), and the party “Valpolicella Vibes: la fresca da scoprire” (6/4, 9 pm, Cortile Mercato Vecchio, by invitation) organized by the youth group of the Consorzio Tutela Vini Valpolicella on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Consortium. “ The Soundtruck by The Riff ” is the soundtrack that will accompany the evenings of the event with a playlist specially selected by the cocktail restaurant of Benny Benassi and Fabio Volo, while DJ Ema Stokholma will be the star of the event organized by Rai Radio2, Rai Com and the Calabria Region on Saturday evening (5/4 at 9 pm) in Piazza dei Signori.
The guided tours to discover the city – organized with the Archeonaute association – include the archaeological area of Corte Sgarzerie (4/4, 6 pm and 9 pm; 5/4, 5 pm and 9 pm), the Roman Villa of Valdonega (6/4, 11 am) and Verona Sotterranea (6/4, 3 pm). It will also be possible to visit the Salone delle Feste of Palazzo Balladoro (4/4, 6 pm; 5/4, 4 pm; 6/4, 4 pm), the National Archaeological Museum (5/4, 3 pm; 6/4, 11 am and 3 pm), “the squares of power between the Municipality and the Scaliger Lordship” (5/4, 4 pm and 6:30 pm).
In collaboration with Coin Excelsior Verona , beauty moves from the glass to make-up: during the event it is possible to book a session with a professional make-up artist (4/4 at 6 pm, 5-6/4 from 11 am to 7 pm) for a “ Red Wine Make Up ” look entirely inspired by the colours of red wine and also learn how to make the perfect pizza dough with Gemma Pizzeria (5/4 from 5.30 pm to 8 pm). Coin Excelsior Verona also offers “ Wine in Art ” (5/4, from 5.30 pm to 8 pm), the exclusive presentation of the collection of works painted with wine by the artist Paola Blàzquez, a tribute to wine as a living material, which evolves and breathes just like art.
During the three days of the event, the fusion soul of Amo Bistrot offers wine lovers at Vinitaly and the city the tasting “Amo l'Oriente”, an unusual combination of oriental flavours and tapas (4/4, 6 pm; 5-6/4, 5 pm).
Vinitaly and the City is open at the following times: Friday 4 April from 6pm to 11pm , Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 from 3pm to 11pm . Tasting booklets can be purchased online until 3 April at a cost of 16.50 euros; during the days of the event they can be purchased online and at the ticket offices in Piazza dei Signori for 20 euros.
